God's Mathematics

"By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to a place that he was to receive as an inheritance."
Hebrew 11:8

It's weird.

Five years ago, I was earning well. Then I transferred to my present job in Shepherd's Voice Publications. The offer was just about half of what I sued to earn, but I answered God's call and entrusted my finances to Him.

At first, it was hard adjusting to a simpler life. So I learned how to budget my monthly income.

My regular expenses included rent for an apartment I got near the office to avoid the daily traffic go to and from my home in Paranaque. There was also my contribution for bills in our Paranaque home as my way of supporting my retired father. And when a sister is in need, I also help out.

But the strange thing is this: it's during this time that I am able to tithe regularly, save and invest more, without necessarily depriving myself of little luxuries.

Just when I thought I had given up a lot to follow God's call for me to shift careers and move to a lower-paying job, God revised His math equation.

Instead of subtracting the blessings, He multiplied it a hundredfold.

REFLECTION: Are you afraid to give up something to follow God? Don't hesitate. Look at Abraham.
